What is Sudüşen Waterfall?
Sudüşen, “where the water falls”, is a waterfall in the wooded hills above Termal, south of Yalova. The 2002 inventory places it south of Üvezpınar village (which it spells Üveyspınar) and says the falls and their surroundings have outstanding natural beauty. Most visitors reach it on foot, along a forest trail.
How do you get to Sudüşen Waterfall?
Start at Termal, 12 km south of Yalova town by minibus or taxi, and continue up to Üvezpınar village. According to the Yalova Culture and Tourism Directorate, the waterfall lies about 8 km from Üvezpınar, along a comfortable natural walking route that passes a dam lake and views of the Sea of Marmara (Yalova Culture and Tourism Directorate).
There is no public transport to the trailhead beyond Termal, so arrange a taxi or drive. Wear proper shoes, carry water, and allow most of a day for the round trip on foot. If you are not used to forest trails, go with a local walking group or guide.

When is the best time to visit Sudüşen Waterfall?
Spring is best, when the stream is full after winter rain and snowmelt and the forest is fresh. The directorate notes that the trail is busiest in summer, when the shade of the forest is welcome, though the flow is lower then. Autumn brings colour to the woods. After heavy rain the path can be muddy and slippery.
What is the history of Sudüşen Waterfall?
Sudüşen is a natural site rather than a historic one. The hills around it belong to the Termal valley, where hot springs have been used since Roman and Byzantine times; the Byzantines knew the valley as Pythia Therma, and its baths are attributed to Constantine and Justinian. The forests that feed the stream are part of the same green slope of Samanlı Dağı that gives the thermal resort its setting. The 2002 inventory already listed the falls among Yalova’s places of natural beauty, and the provincial directorate now promotes the walk as one of the province’s nature routes, used for photo safaris, nature walks and picnics.
What is Sudüşen Waterfall famous for?
It is the best-known waterfall walk in the Yalova hills, popular with Istanbul walkers as a day out combined with a thermal bath. The trail itself, with forest, a reservoir and glimpses of the sea, is as much the attraction as the falls.
What can you do at Sudüşen Waterfall?
Walk the trail. The route from Üvezpınar runs through forest past a dam lake, with views of the Marmara.
Photograph the falls and the forest, and look for wildlife; the directorate notes the variety of forest life along the route.
Picnic beside the stream. Take your rubbish back with you.
Finish with a bath at Termal. The hot pools of the thermal complex are the natural end to the day.
More nature in the Yalova hills
Erikli double waterfall and Dipsiz Göl. Both are listed by the Yalova Culture and Tourism Directorate among the province’s places to visit, and make good alternatives on a second day.
Delmece Yaylası. A plateau reached from Teşvikiye village in Çınarcık district, which the 2002 inventory describes as having outstanding natural beauty.
Kurtköy. The inventory notes that this area beside a stream is known for its trout farms and picnic grounds; the directorate lists the Kapılı Çınar picnic area here, named after a great plane tree.
Burhaniye. Described by the inventory as a very authentic picnic spot 25 km from Yalova, among the mountains and in the pleasant coolness of a stream.
Hasan Baba woods. On the Yalova–Çınarcık road, 4.5 km from Çınarcık, now a picnic area.
